The experience
What to expect
Shali Tibba is one of the highest points any beginner can reach on foot. The trail earns the summit, you hike through dense Himalayan forest, past grazing meadows, and up through exposed rocky terrain before the view opens up in every direction. Your guide tells you about the forest's flora and fauna, village life and explains the spiritual significance of the shrine which local villagers have been visiting for generations.
The hike is 14km return, manageable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. Most guests say the last stretch to the summit, when the Himalayan range comes into full view, is the moment that makes the whole trip.
