Birding in historic forest trails (guided)
Provider: Himachal Hiking
This is a forest walk, on trails developed & utilized by British officials, offers an opportunity to photograph native birds & escape city crowd of Shimla without going too far away from the city.
We utilize our mornings at hill town with a gentle walk into forest trails, loved by natives of Shimla since time immemorable. These trails takes us into greener zones with ample flora fauna. Guides help is in techniques to spot mountain birds like Whistling Thrush, Great Barbet, Himalayan Woodpecker and Red-Rumped Swallow. Bird sighting will require a good focus but their tweets reach easily while we walk and breathe fresh pine scented air. Shimla's lesser known areas and dense cedar, oak, and rhododendron forests like Glen Forest, Potters Hill, and Hassan valley trails offer rich birdlife. A perfect activity for bird lovers, photographers, families with kids and mindful explorers. Each season brings new species, making every visit unique and exciting.
History worn trails, with bird songs all around in the morning, once trodden by the Raj Officers leading you into Shimla's wildest green heart, without even leaving the city.
